Terms of Use (G-LevelBook)
Established: October 18, 2026 / Last updated: October 18, 2026
These Terms of Use (these "Terms") set out the conditions for using the app "G-LevelBook" (the "App") provided by GEOTENA ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the App, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.
1. Scope
These Terms apply to all relationships between us and users concerning the use of the App. The separately published "Privacy Policy" (https://geotena.jp/en/privacy ), which governs the handling of user information, and the "Notation Based on the Specified Commercial Transactions Act" (https://geotena.jp/tokushoho , Japanese only), which governs the sales conditions of paid features, each form part of these Terms.
If you are a minor, please use the App with the consent of a parent or other legal guardian. The same applies when purchasing the paid features described in Section 8.
2. What the App Does
The App is a tool that assists with calculations in leveling surveys, such as instrument height, ground height, and the difference from the formation height (FH), and with keeping records of them. Its main features are:
- Automatic calculation of instrument height and ground height from backsight and foresight readings, and automatic distribution of the closing error when a closing benchmark is entered
- Export of observation data to Excel (xlsx) and PDF (export in CSV format is not supported)
- Import of points and formation heights from Excel, text (.txt), and CSV files
- Exchange of registered points and benchmarks between devices using QR codes
- Entry of point names and values by voice input
- Optional backup to and restore from Google Drive, at the user's choice
The App is free to use and displays advertisements on screen. Removing ads and lifting the limits of the free version are provided by the paid feature (subscription) described in Section 8.
3. Disclaimer of Warranties and Your Duty to Verify
- The calculation results displayed or output by the App are reference information based on the values you enter. We make no warranty of any kind as to the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose of the calculation results. The results may contain errors caused by incorrect input, the state of your device or operating system, defects or design limitations of the App, or other factors.
- Before using the App's calculation results for surveying, construction, design, or any other decision or work, you shall verify the results at your own responsibility by appropriate means, such as recalculation, comparison with known points, and checks by the person in charge at the site. Do not carry out work using the App's results as your only basis.
- Switching the unit display (m / ft) in the App only changes the labels shown; it does not convert any values. You are responsible for keeping track of which unit the values you enter are in.
- The App is not intended to be used as the sole storage location for survey data. Please protect important data in more than one way, such as by exporting it to files and making backups.
4. Limitation of Liability
- We shall not be liable for any damage incurred by you arising from the use of, or inability to use, the App (including, but not limited to, rework of construction, loss of schedule or costs, lost profits, loss of data, interruption of business, and damage to third parties).
- The damage in the preceding paragraph includes damage arising from any of the following:
- Input errors, mix-ups of units or rounding, and reading errors of instruments
- Using the calculation results without the verification described in Section 3, Paragraph 2
- Misrecognition by voice input, and mix-ups of data through QR codes or file imports
- Defects or design limitations of the App
- Malfunctions of devices or operating systems, and loss, failure, or replacement of devices
- Outages, specification changes, or discontinuation of services provided by third parties (such as Google Drive, speech recognition, ad delivery, and payment processing)
5. Prohibited Conduct
When using the App, you shall not engage in any of the following:
- Conduct that violates laws and regulations or public order and morals
- Copying, modifying, decompiling, or reverse engineering the App (except to the extent expressly permitted by law)
- Conduct that interferes with or abuses ad delivery, such as fraudulent clicks on ads
- Obtaining or altering the purchase status of paid features by improper means
- Conduct that interferes with the operation of the App, or any other conduct that we deem inappropriate
6. Handling of Data
- As a rule, survey data in the App is stored on your device. You are responsible for managing and protecting your data.
- If you turn on cloud backup, your survey data is stored in your own Google Drive. We neither store nor view this data.
- You choose where exported Excel and PDF files are saved and with whom they are shared, and you are responsible for how they are handled.
- The survey data you enter into the App and the contents of the files you export belong to you. We claim no rights to them.
- How data is locked or deleted when you return to the free version is governed by Section 8.
- The handling of user information is governed by the separately published "Privacy Policy."
7. Advertising
The App displays third-party advertisements (banner ads). The content of ads and any dealings with advertisers are the responsibility of you and the advertiser, and we accept no responsibility for them. In regions where applicable law requires consent, the App shows a screen asking for your consent regarding ads. You can change your choice at any time from "Privacy choices" in the settings screen.
8. Paid Feature (Subscription)
- In addition to the features available free of charge, the App offers a paid subscription. The subscription includes both the removal of ads and the lifting of the free-version limits described in the next item.
- In the free version, an observation table is limited to 11 rows (the row of the first known point (benchmark) plus the rows of the points, i.e. 10 observation points), saved sites and routes are limited to one per mode, and export to Excel or PDF is not available. The observation table limit also applies to tables in the mode without routes (Quick Mode). When a limit is reached, you can no longer add rows to an observation table or create new sites or routes. You can still enter and edit data within the limits.
- Purchases are made as monthly or yearly subscriptions through Google Play's billing system (Google Play Billing). The price is as shown on the in-app product page of the store (including consumption tax).
- A 14-day free trial is offered when you subscribe for the first time. During the trial period, you can use the App in the same state as with a subscription. If you do not cancel during the trial period, it automatically converts to a paid subscription and billing begins.
- After cancellation, after the free trial ends (if you do not continue to a paid subscription), or during the account hold period described below, the sites and routes that existed during the subscription period (including those created in the free version before subscribing) are locked, and you can no longer open, export, rename, copy, or delete them. We never delete this data, and if you subscribe again, you can use it as before. Separately from the locked sites and routes, you can create new sites and routes within the limits of the free version.
- Notwithstanding the preceding item, observation tables in the mode without routes (Quick Mode) that existed during the subscription period are deleted from the device when you return to the free version and cannot be restored.
- Please export any data you need before cancelling. How data is handled after cancellation is also explained on the in-app subscription screen and in "Manage subscription" in the settings screen.
- If a payment fails, it is retried during a 7-day grace period while you keep the subscription benefits. After that, the account is placed on hold for 30 days and the benefits are suspended; if the payment is resolved within that period, the subscription is restored.
- Payments, taxes, and refunds are handled in accordance with Google Play's refund policy and applicable laws. For a certain period after purchase, Google Play handles refunds directly; after that, we may handle them. Please send any refund inquiries to the contact in Section 13.
- Your subscription status is tied to the store account used when subscribing. It can be restored when you reinstall the App with the same account, but it cannot be transferred to a different account or platform. The App automatically checks the subscription status at startup, and you can also check it again manually from the settings screen. If the status cannot be checked, the App uses the most recent status kept on the device.
- If we change the price, the change applies to purchases made after the change and does not affect the rights of users who have already subscribed.
- We do not obtain payment information such as credit card numbers.
- At present, the subscription is offered only in the Android version (Google Play).
- Other sales conditions are set out in the separately published "Notation Based on the Specified Commercial Transactions Act."
9. Intellectual Property
The intellectual property rights in the App and the programs, designs, trademarks (including the app name "G-LevelBook" and our name and logo "GEOTENA"), and other materials contained in it belong to us or to their legitimate right holders. The license notices for the open-source software used by the App can be found under "About" in the App's settings screen.
10. Changes, Suspension, and Termination of the App
We may change the content of the App, or suspend or terminate its provision. Except in unavoidable emergencies, we will announce the termination of the App in advance to the extent possible in the App, on the store listing page, or on our website. How users with an active subscription will be treated will be announced at the same time.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may change these Terms. When making a change that significantly affects users' rights and obligations, we will announce the content of the change and its effective date before the effective date in the App, on the store listing page, or on our website. If you use the App after the announcement, you are deemed to have agreed to the changed Terms.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute between us and a user concerning the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the district court having jurisdiction over our location as the court of first instance.
